Newbold House

For the Nature Retreats and fully catered Family Holidays, most people choose to stay at Newbold House, a beautiful Victorian mansion, complete with gorgeous conservatory, walled vegetable garden, apple orchard and plenty of interesting shrubberies and nooks and crannies for kids to explore. (Self-catering scheduled Family Holidays are based at Tullochwood Lodges). The gardens back onto Scots pine forest, with the local deer often paying us a visit. The house is run by a small co-operative community whose mission is to "develop, practice and teach skills for sustainable living, in harmony with ourselves, each other and the earth". There are opportunities to take part in community activities such as gardening, cooking, meditation, singing (and washing your own plate, mug, knife and fork after meals!).

 

New for this Year - Glamorous Camping! This year we have exciting new accomodation in the form of two huge 5m diameter canvas bell tents. The tents are located in the apple orchard and are comfortably furnished, including proper beds for indoor comfort, outdoors. 

 

                             

Meals: We believe that delicious food is a crucial aspect of any holiday and as such we source the best local, seasonal and organic produce. Meal times offer a chance for exploration and discovery and we are always happy to spend a little time explaining the dishes, the history of traditional foods, where the produce comes from and who produced it. Newbold House based holidays include breakfast, lunch and most evening meals. The ingredients used are fresh and organic, with much of the fruit and veg coming straight from the garden.

Tullochwood Lodges

Our two scheduled self-catering Family Holidays are based at Tullochwood Lodges. The lodges are in a beautiful woodland setting and facilities include a small loch with sandy beach, picnic and seating areas, BBQ area at the beach,outdoor badminton court and children’s play area with swings, wooden play house, climbing frame and large grass area for games

Alternative Accommodation and Catering: If you would like to arrange a tailored holiday just for your own group and would prefer not to stay at Newbold House, we can offer other accommodation options in self catering wooden lodges, local eco-friendly bed & breakfast, a 4 star country hotel and various bunkhouses and hostels. These holidays can be self catering, or have some catered elements, depending on your preference. We have a wonderful chef who can come in and cook you a meal, a particular treat for special occasions. We always endeavor to work with the highest quality accommodation providers and caterers, who share our commitment to sustainability.
